Seven Earn Contracts At South Florida Camp
Atlanta, GA-- The National Gridiron League (NGL) held its second player symposium and tryout this past weekend in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Players from all over the country came to south Florida for a weekend of events.
The symposium initiated Friday with a scheduled dinner for players as they arrived at Willie L. Webb, Sr Park. National Gridiron League president Joe McClendon welcomed players and lead a discussion on league activities. The evening activities concluded with a player walk-thru as players, and league representatives made their way to the playing fields.
Saturday and Sunday players competed in football position-specific drills, one on one competition, passing skills, and team drills. Two practices scheduled for Saturday and the weekend's final practice on Sunday morning.
Of those in attendance, seven players earned an NGL team contracts including former Oklahoma corner back Marcus Green. Green dominated in one-on-one and passing activities throughout the weekend. The Cedar Hill, Texas native would receive a contract offer to join the Texas Bighorns. Six additional players impressed enough to receive a contract offer before the weekend concluded.
Player feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive as the players enjoyed the weekend of activities, food, and off-field events of Broward and Dade counties.
The league has scheduled three additional players symposiums and tryouts for this off-season set for Dallas, Charlotte, and southern California.
